Japanese virtual reality (VR) developer Amata KK revealed its next project, "Ono's Story," just last month, and now it's just a few weeks away from release. The team has confirmed that an exclusive version of Meta Quest will be released in mid-March.
From the same team behind the escape game The Last Labyrinth, Kogoro's story is a fantasy world filled with traditional Japanese culture and steampunk elements. Similar to Taisho-era Japan, Amata KK combines it with the invention of the steam engine and the ancient magic known as Ki.
In the storyline, you team up with a high priestess named Haru to help her fight giant creatures called "Kami" that go on deadly rampages. You must quell five of these beasts on the sacred floating island of Kokoro, while finding the man behind their appearance, Haru's former priest and friend Masatake Araki.
Onogoro's story will mix a lot of action elements as he battles Kami and must protect Haru, who is chained to a suppression stone you must manipulate. As a ghostly character, you interact with Haru's world using ancient relics called Celestial Weapons. These allow you to solve puzzles (of which there seem to be many), fight Kami and ensure that Haru does not perish.
If The Last Labyrinth is anything to go by, Tales of the Little Savage may contain some fiendish puzzles and a rather abstract narrative to discover in the process.
The Tale of Onogoro will be released for Meta Quest on March 17, 2022 and will retail for $29.99. For ongoing updates on the latest Quest 2 video game, keep reading VRFocus.
