Meta Universe Sports & Entertainment

How is Metaverse, which combines augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR) and blockchain technology for NFT (non-homogeneous tokens), impacting the sports and entertainment industry?

There are various responses to this, some see it as an opportunity, some see no progress, and they stay true to their mission of making their fans happy.

Metaverse and Sports: How High Tech Will Impact the Industry

Metaverse has entered several areas, such as Zuckerberg's Meta Social, and blockchain projects such as Decentraland and The Sandbox, which have opened up the virtual real estate market with millions of dollars in sales.

But how will the metaverse affect the sports and entertainment industries? Matthew Ball, Managing Partner of Epyllion Co. who co-founded the Roundhill Ball Metaverse ETF, answered in an interview.

“One of the biggest impacts it will have on sports will be the way we watch the games. Instead of being stuck on the couch, fans will have the opportunity to watch the game as if they were in the stands. In fact, one day, everyone will have the best seats in the house and their fantasy scores or live bets will be displayed on the big screen. Home fans could even influence the game as much as the yelling home fans.”

Not only that, but there may be new opportunities related to selling more exclusive event tickets that exceed the arena's capacity.

In addition, the virtual world allows fans away from their team's hometown the opportunity to experience the action, interact with their teammates and enjoy the atmosphere on the field.

Meta Universe Sports & Entertainment Metaverse has penetrated multiple areas of Metaverse and sports across borders

In addition to transcending the boundaries of physical reality, the metaverse can also create new opportunities in sports and entertainment through the interactions that can take place.

Meet famous athletes, compete with them in a game or two, and again, decorate the space with your own irreplaceable tokens or NFT art possibilities.

In this regard, even Simon Powell, an analyst at Jefferies, expressed the meta-universe in The Digitization of Everything as follows.

“A single meta-universe may take more than a decade, but as it grows, it has the potential to destroy almost everything in human life that hasn’t already been destroyed.

The pandemic has accelerated the adoption of various technologies. Many people are being forced to spend more of their lives online, from social to work, from education to entertainment. This shift to a networked world will continue.”
