The National Football League is giving a special gift to Super Bowl fans. Beginning Feb. 13, 2022, the NFL will celebrate Super Bowl LVI by offering virtual tickets to Super Bowl attendees as a commemorative NFT.

According to the official announcement, each Super Bowl participant will receive a unique NFT virtual ticket with their respective row, section and seat number.

With virtual tickets to be issued for Super Bowl LVI, the NFL further contends that offering NFTs to its fans is a way for the league to keep fans engaged and provide them with digital memorabilia or souvenirs that fans can cherish.

Speaking of the NFT Giveaway, Bobby Gallo, Senior Vice President of Business Development for NFL Clubs, said

“Collecting ticket stubs has always been something our fans love to do, especially for the biggest game of the season, and offering a customized Super Bowl NFT allows us to enhance the game day experience while also allowing us to further evaluate NFT space for future ticketing and event participation opportunities”

In addition, to commemorate the previous Super Bowl in Los Angeles, the league will also unveil a series of seven unique "historic" NFTs. A new NFT will drop each day from Feb. 6 through Feb. 13, 2022, with the final NFT dropping on Feb. 13 and will be designed exclusively by a local Southern California artist and will feature current Super Bowl LVI ticket artwork.

In 2021, the NFL launched an innovative program to combine the NFT with the Super Bowl and distributed more than 2,50,000 NFT tickets to fans last season.

“We first began offering virtual commemorative tickets NFT to fans during the regular season. We witnessed the tremendous success of this one-of-a-kind fan experience, which provided the impetus to continue the program throughout the postseason and eventually at Super Bowl LVI in Los Angeles.” Gallo added.

In addition, the league will release club-specific NFTs for their fans. The Super Bowl will announce the NFTs for the participating teams, the Cincinnati Bengals and the Los Angeles Rams. The final NFT honoring the winning Super Bowl LVI team will drop at the end of the 2022 season.
